These are from the Olympic Torch Run protests Wednesday, April 9th 2008 in San Francisco, CA. This is not the start of the report - if you got a direct link to this page you might want to go back to the start.

The police trying to get back to the head of the column - this went on and on - you get the idea. I eventually decided my best bet was to continue down to the start quickly.

Another little cluster waiting.

There were little groups of cops all over - these dirt bikes are used mostly for protests I think - I've never seen them otherwise.

As I neared the start there were large numbers from both sides, often standing side by side silently, waiting for the torch, other times yelling, other times marching up and down, but there was no violence.

I've now passed the stadium and just across the drawbridge is the opening ceremony and the start of the run... unfortunately the police had blocked it off unless you were clearly pro-China (flag carrying) or had a press pass.

Lots of police and fire boats of all descriptions around the bridge.
Keep moving... on to the next page.
